Hydronic emergency control for a Guelph geothermal project
This geothermal control panel is part of an S&S Electrical Services project in Guelph, Ontario, focused on hydronic emergency control. The cabinet brings the control components, wiring and connection points together in an organized enclosure, with the open door providing a closer look at how the panel is assembled.
In a geothermal hydronic system, the electrical controls work alongside the mechanical equipment that moves heat through the building. Emergency control requirements need to be planned around that equipment and its intended operating sequence. A purpose-built panel gives the project team a central place to organize those connections and controls.
A closer look inside the control panel
The photograph shows labelled terminal blocks, relay assemblies, a transformer and wiring ducts arranged inside the grey enclosure. The door wiring is bundled and secured, with connections running back into the cabinet and a visible grounding connection between the door and enclosure.
Details like these make the layout easier to understand when following a circuit, identifying a connection or planning future service work. The panel brings together:
- Labelled connection points for the control wiring.
- Organized relay and terminal-block layouts.
- Secured wiring between the door and cabinet.
- Accessible components within a dedicated enclosure.
Controls built around the mechanical system
A geothermal control panel needs to fit the application. The equipment, hydronic layout, normal operating sequence and emergency control requirements all help define the electrical scope. Bringing that information together early helps coordinate the panel with the wider installation.
S&S works on building automation and custom control panels for commercial, industrial and mechanical-system applications. Our approach brings panel wiring, field connections and commissioning into the same conversation, so the controls are planned around what the equipment needs to do.
